What To Expect

St. Nicholas Abbey
St Nicholas Abbey is located in Saint Peter, Barbados, and is a plantation house, museum and rum distillery. Colonel Benjamin Berringer built the house in 1658 This house is one of only three genuine Jacobean mansions in the Western Hemisphere. It's similar to the English Jacobean-era manor houses of the first half of the seventeenth century, the period between the Tudor and Georgian styles, beginning in the reign of James I.

Great afternoon at the Abbey

We just returned from a very enjoyable afternoon at St Nicholas Abbey. Dee from Glory Tours was a great driver. We met the owner and his son who were both delightful. I would recommend this to anyone.
Great Tour, Lovely Grounds, Bottle of Rum, Worth the Price
Jacalyn1017, 30-03-2019
We enjoyed this tour and rum tasting. I learned quite a bit about rum, particularly the rum trade in Barbados. The current owner takes you on the tour himself. You get a large bottle of rum after the tour is over. The grounds are lovely.

We did not do the train ride.

Barbados has several plantations. Visiting the Abbaye Saint-Nicolas is going to meet history, in a historic house with period furniture and superb gardens. Pay yourself the extra with the train. The little historic train journey will bring you to a great landscape and a fun bonus which I leave you the surprise. You will have access to the distillery. A great activity in the heart of the island.
